What happens when you take a top designer who dresses women as though they were goddesses and collaborates with a paper goods company that uses only the finest of materials? You end up with the prettiest collection of couture greeting cards to make any diva oooh and ahhh with glee. This is exactly what happened to me when I discovered these exclusive NIQUEA.D for Papyrus cards at a recent media event for Papyrus.
Project Runway All Stars Finalist and a celebrity favourite, Rami Kashou, first created for Payprus when he unveiled the ‘Origami Flamenco Paper Gown‘ for Fashion’s Night Out in Los Angeles. Since then, he’s custom designed collectable couture cards made with unique fabrics, trims and jewels. Each card comes in a beautiful wooden drawer box and here’s the one I gifted to myself! It sits on my writing desk and reminds me of my two loves…fashion and the written word. The cards are about $30 and available at select U.S. and Canadian Papyrus stores.

These are some of the final images from my latest photoshoot. Seeing myself on the cover of a local magazine certainly feels surreal as I’m far more comfortable writing about models than being one. The images encapsulate the playful spirit of the 1960s High Society housewife where her best accessory is a personal pool boy. It’s unfortunate Canadian summers are so short!

What have you all been loving and lusting lately? Here are some of the things that made me feel so good this past week…
For Valentine’s Day dinner, I finally wore these bracelets (and ring) that I purchased at Seasonal Whispers on my last trip to NYC. It’s a great little jewellery shop if you are an accessories hoard like myself.

I started using this luxurious cream from Creamery, a place which serves up custom made creams for beauty aficionados. It’s so nourishing and smells delicious from all the fresh ingredients that I have to resist eating it. Yes, that’s a real chunk of chocolate sitting on top.

Stuart Weitzman sent over their stunning S/S ’12 campaign featuring Natalia Vodianova in these toe-capped shoes that I’m seriously drooling over. I love the sexy allure to this classic ladylike style.

This book Valentino Garavani: A Grand Italian Epic which I received as a gift is a welcome addition to my ever-growing fashion library. A true visual delight of Valentino’s glamorous world.

I made this Coconut Shrimp Curry using jumbo shrimp and it was delish.

The posts from my MBFW experience in NYC are still trickling in. Better late than never, right? The Falguni & Shane Peacock Spring/Summer 2012 collection was one that I was eagerly anticipating and it certainly didn’t disappoint. I’m a strong believer in the Indian designers’ philosophy that ‘life is too short to blend in’ and “…a dress must make, in an instant, a statement without the help of accessories.” Staying true to their words, FSP showcased attention-commanding dresses in a kaleidoscope of colors that juxtaposed strong elements such as structured shoulder pads and heavy embellishments alongside delicate feathery details, sheer fabric and intricate embroidery. It’s no wonder Falguni and Shane Peacock are a favourite amongst celebrities like Britney Spears, Katy Perry, Fergie, Jennifer Lopez and so many others.
Here are some highlights…
