On a chilly winter’s night, I boarded a modern and luxurious version of the ‘Polar Express‘…
…to be whisked away to a ‘secret’ facility where magnificent creatures were unveiled by the creative geniuses at Heavy Industries prior to their migration to Chinook Centre, one of Western Canada’s premier shopping centres.
With Adam, Artistic Director at Heavy Industries
It was then time to celebrate these larger-than-life works of art at a pop-up ice lounge where there was food, music, and delicious Polar Bear cocktails of course.
I stayed toasty warm in my Mackage coat and faux-fur Russian hat. Although the evening ended all too soon, the loveable bears left an indelible impression as they will help launch the fundraising initiative at Chinook Centre for Polar Bears International. Because giving is always fashionable!

I attended the PARKLUXE fashion event last night featuring some of Canada’s best designers including Caitlin Power, Lauren Bagliore, Nicole Campre and Ann Bacalso. My closet is full of pieces from these designers and as a Canadian, I’m always pleased to discover and support the brilliant talent in my home country.
Other than my Valentino shoes, I was dressed in head-to-toe Canadian fashion. Here I’m wearing the Lauren Bagliore convertible ‘Desiree’ dress as a top, with a Caitlin Power pleated leather skirt over Miss Martin tights and carrying a Pink Tartan clutch. My blogger friend KD is wearing stunning accessories from Ann B. in the picture above.

In case you are not following my Instagram diary, here are some snaps since being back in my city. It’s been a sweet summer so far full of some crazy and fun moments with my friends. I hope you are all keeping things hot wherever you may be, and savouring the lazy days and sultry nights of the season.
What happens when you take a top designer who dresses women as though they were goddesses and collaborates with a paper goods company that uses only the finest of materials? You end up with the prettiest collection of couture greeting cards to make any diva oooh and ahhh with glee. This is exactly what happened to me when I discovered these exclusive NIQUEA.D for Papyrus cards at a recent media event for Papyrus.
Project Runway All Stars Finalist and a celebrity favourite, Rami Kashou, first created for Payprus when he unveiled the ‘Origami Flamenco Paper Gown‘ for Fashion’s Night Out in Los Angeles. Since then, he’s custom designed collectable couture cards made with unique fabrics, trims and jewels. Each card comes in a beautiful wooden drawer box and here’s the one I gifted to myself! It sits on my writing desk and reminds me of my two loves…fashion and the written word. The cards are about $30 and available at select U.S. and Canadian Papyrus stores.
